CWM’s lifework was grounded in her belief in and advocacy for race and sex equality, social and civil rights and protections, and internationalism and peace. She was true to these beliefs in her work and her personal life. She used her legal acumen, her leadership skills, and her charm to advance these causes. Her steadfast support of women of color and race equality, and her international associations and activism for women’s rights around the world, are also critical to understanding the foundations of post-World War II women’s rights movements, as well as grasping the import of CWM’s life.
